What You Should Know About Fast Weight Loss Methods

The very first thing that you must keep in mind is that often when you do see very fast weight loss initially, this loss is mostly water weight.

This usually occurs when you begin cutting out your carbohydrate intake, such as when using a low carb diet.  Because the body holds water in the muscle storage form of carbohydrates, as that storage gets depleted, you lose all that excess water.

It’s not unheard of to see 5 to 8 pounds of water weight loss when first starting a diet, so just don’t be misled into thinking this is pure fat weight.

There’s no question that some of it may be fat, but not all of it will be.  Always keep things in perspective.

Rebound Weight Gain

Second, another thing that you must remember about fast weight loss plans is that if they are not sound, that is if they are ultra low calorie approaches, there’s a very good chance that you’ll experience rebound weight gain when coming off them.

This is due to the fact that the metabolism slows down significantly while you’re on these very low calorie diets. Therefore once you return to a normal calorie intake, you’ll be burning calories at a dramatically lower rate.

This then means that the food you do eat has a greater chance of being stored as body fat rather than being burned, which is why the weight gain occurs.

If you don’t want to experience that annoying rebound weight gain, you’re better off using a more moderate calorie reduced diet that will keep your metabolism humming along.

The Proper Fast Weight Loss Methods

So which are the proper methods of fast weight loss? If you really want to see the best overall results from your fat loss efforts, you should aim to use a moderately low calorie diet that incorporates some calorie cycling into the picture (high calorie intake and low calorie intake days).  This will help to shock the metabolism so that it never gets used to a very low calorie intake and slows down because of it.

Then, also make sure that you have plenty of protein within that diet since protein is the nutrient that will boost up your metabolic rate the highest. It must be lean proteins however or you risk increasing your fat intake.

If you make sure to do that and also combine this with a a proper (and regular!) workout program, you will without a doubt see positive results from this fast weight loss method.
