Calorie intake versus calorie expenditure.

So as you can see, sometimes the ‘fat burning heart rate’ is not actually the best place to be.

What’s more is that working out at a higher intensity will cause the metabolism to increase more in the hours after the workout is completed, therefore this can also factor in to the total fat loss progress that you make.

So make sure that you keep these points in mind when thinking about which heart rate you should be working at. Don’t just let yourself think that if you are burning fat as a fuel source, this necessarily means you’re optimizing total fat loss.

It’s going to be the total calorie expenditure you have over the course of the day that matters more, so that is what you should be focusing on.
